I began making wheel-thrown pottery in 1980, when I was 11 years old.

Throughout high school and college, I pursued my interest in ceramics. I began to teach throwing classes during my sophomore year in high school, at Blossom Hill Crafts, where I learned to throw. I owe a huge thanks to all the great teachers there. BHC is a terrific teaching studio in my home town of Los Gatos, CA.

After college, I took a 10-year hiatus from ceramics, working as a technical instructor for software companies like Peoplesoft, Sybase, and Ariba, Inc. I traveled all over the world teaching programming and system administration courses, with little time for regular ceramics work.

In 2001, I opted for less business travel and more clay-time.  I found new passion for clay work in firing my own kilns, mixing my own glazes, and working in my own home studio.  There is nothing like firing your own kiln, stacked with all your own wares and glazes.

In March 2004, after much consideration, I finally gave up my day job and began life anew as a full-time potter.  Presently, I'm learning the ups & downs of craft fairs, and have begun showing my work in several galleries.  I'm also teaching regular courses in wheel-thrown pottery at Mother Earth Clay Art Center in Sunnyvale, CA.
